Randy is a mediator and arbitrator with ADR Chambers and a litigator based in Toronto.
Randy specializes in mediating and arbitrating difficult corporate/commercial disputes. He was a litigation partner with Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt, LLP for over 15 years, chaired Osler's International Commercial Arbitration/ADR Group and is a co-author of The Osler Guide to Commercial Arbitration in Canada (Kluwer). For several years, Randy has been selected by The Best Lawyers in Canada in the International Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution areas.
From 1986 to 1989, Randy was a litigation solicitor with Baker & McKenzie in Hong Kong where he participated in many international arbitrations. Since then, he has acted on significant arbitration matters, both international and domestic, and in private and court-annexed mediations in a variety of corporate-commercial and other contexts. He has represented clients in matters involving complex international business disputes and arbitrations, product liability class actions, franchise, partnership and employment disputes, defamation, investor complaints, competition, professional liability, fraud and shareholder rights. He has also acted as a neutral in many of these areas.
Randy holds an LL.M. specializing in arbitration and mediation from the London School of Economics and has written extensively in the ADR and arbitration fields. He received mediation training from the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution and is a member of the Arbitration Roundtable of Toronto. Randy is an arbitrator and mediator member of the ADR Institute of Ontario. He was a member of the Arbitration Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and a member of the sub-committee that appoints Canadian arbitrators for ICC arbitrations. He has also been a director on the Boards of the ADR Institute of Ontario and the ADR Institute of Canada. He has taught arbitration at Queen's University, is a guest instructor at the Osgoode Law School Intensive Trial Advocacy Program and a conflict resolution facilitator with the United Church of Canada.
